Welcome to the Cognitive Affective Neuroscience of Decision-making in Young people (CANDY) Lab, directed by Dr. Wi Hoon Jung! We seek to understand the psychological and neurobiological mechanisms that underpin (i) how people make decisions and (ii) how people's thoughts and behaviors are constructed within a social context by the actual or imagined interactions with others. We apply an interdisciplinary approach to explore these questions, drawing on methods and ideas from social, cognitive affective neuroscience. We particularly use Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques, mainly fMRI, to investigate the neural mechanisms of choices and social cognition. Our current research topics include economic and ethical decision-making, empathy, social comparison, theory of mind, and  diverse cognitive abilities in normal and clinical populations.

If you are interested in being a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow in the CANDY Lab, please send Dr. Jung an email.
